Low Ceiling Dreams

Paroles originales

Fan tick... slow turn
Air too thick to waste a word
Ceiling low, so I learned the lean
Not too much, just enough to be seen
Door paint curled by the upper frame
Every tall thought end up trimmed the same
Light hit dust and it stay mid-air
Like the room got rules for what can clear
I keep plans in a folded state
Small enough not to catch the weight
Not fear
Just math
Not shame
Just scale
I seen big talk scrape plaster white
Leave a mark, then lose its height
Line by line I reduce the reach
Till the want fit under speech
Short room
Long week
Thin wall
Floor creak
Pipe knock
Sink stain
Same view
Bus lane
I don’t force what the frame resists
I rewrite till it coexist
That’s the trick
Not break
Not beg
Just shape
Some folks stretch till the edges split
I got used to the sound of fit
Head up wrong and the lesson quick
Dream too tall, hear the gypsum click
That sound stayed in me
Clean and mean
Ever since, I cut hope to clean machine
Low ceiling dreams still push the chest
Low ceiling dreams need less... stay pressed
I don’t aim high, I aim exact
Cut it down till it push right back
I know rooms that can edit a man
Take his full size down by hand
So I built with a carpenter’s eye
Leave no excess, leave nothing wide
If it rises, I sand the claim
If it swells, I rename the shape
What looks small might be pressure stored
What sounds plain might be steel in board
Read that right
I was never flat
Just compressed till the force pushed back
Ceiling low
Still, I kept the form
Not every quiet thing is worn
