Smoky Krown
Fast Water
Two people follow the same route without ever quite moving at the same pace. Salt in the air, harbor lights on wet pavement, reflections breaking across the water, a glance over the shoulder, a hand finding another for just a moment.
The song lives in that space where something is already happening, but neither person needs to define it. No promises, no map, no dramatic declaration. Just movement, distance, attraction, and the sense that whatever this is might look different by morning.
There is tension in the space between them, but also freedom. One stays slightly ahead, the other keeps following. Sometimes they fall into step. Sometimes they drift apart again.
FAST WATER is about letting a moment exist without asking too much of it.
One step. Then another.
Lyrics
Salt in the air
Bass from the terrace
You laugh once
I miss my cue
You take the side road
I follow the sound
No grand entrance
Just catching up
You move before the kick
Leave space where I expect it
I know that feeling
I do it too
Keep one step ahead
Fast water, pull me through
No promise at the railing
Just move when the snare cuts
Stay one step ahead
Fast water, pull me through
If morning changes anything
We'll meet it when it comes
Fast-
Water
Pull-
Through
Fast-
Water
You don't ask where this goes
I don't offer a map
We cross beside the harbor
Without making it heavy
A scooter turns uphill
Somebody cheers below
You catch the next downbeat
I catch you looking back
Maybe it stays small
Maybe that's enough
One clean hour
Moving at full speed
No future speech
No dramatic ending
Just your hand
Finding mine briefly
Keep one step ahead
Fast water, pull me through
No promise at the railing
Just move when the snare cuts
Now I'm one step ahead
Fast water, follow through
Whatever morning changes
We already had the run
One step
Then another
