Too Late to Clean It Now

TOO LATE TO CLEAN IT NOW

Some things disappear cleanly. Others leave an outline.
TOO LATE TO CLEAN IT NOW turns an emptying apartment into evidence of what used to be there - a pale square on a wall, a dent in the rug, a mark in the wood, a room that looks cleaner and somehow feels less empty.
There is no dramatic goodbye here. No wreckage. Just repetition, routine, and the slow realization that removing the object does not remove its shape.
Built around a warped soul loop, muffled drums and a deadpan delivery, the track stays locked inside that obsessive motion until almost nothing remains.
The objects go first. The traces take longer.

Lyrics :

Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
Wipe what you want
It still comes through somehow
Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
Name off the wall
But the mark stays around

I took the frame down first
Then the nail
Then the dust-ring under it
Pale as a ghosted word

Turned the mattress
Shook the sheets
Ran hot water till the mirror blurred
Scrubbed the cup-rings off the table wood
Still knew where they were

Dragged the coat from the back of the chair
Lint on the sleeve
Receipt in the seam
Cut the thread with my teeth
Looked clean from a distance
Wrong up close
Like a lie does

I washed the glass
I aired the hall
I boxed the books by size
I got your smell out of the towels
Or told myself I did
That counts some nights

No drama
No breaking plates
No rain scene
No grand goodbye
Just me with a rag
And a bottle of spray
Watching proof go thin
Not die

Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
Wipe what you want
It still comes through somehow
Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
Name off the wall
But the mark stays around

There’s a square on the floor where the lamp once stood
A dent in the rug by the bed-frame foot
A fork with one bent tine in the drying rack
One blue thread caught in the bathroom wood

I found your handwriting on a shopping list
Half a word left after “coffee” and “soap”
Black pen pressed hard through cheap white paper
Like even the ink had a harder throat

So I cleaned the sink
Then cleaned it twice
Then lined the shoes by the door
Then stood in the kitchen with both hands still
Like I was waiting for more instructions

But nothing arrived
Just the fridge motor
Traffic far off
Pipe noise
My face in the darkened microwave door
Looking like somebody mid-erase

Take the photo down
Take the hook out too
Turn the cushion round
It still points back to you

Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
Clear every shelf
It still comes through somehow
Too late to clean it now
Too late to clean it now
You can lose the name
But the shape stays around

One thin mark
By the light switch
That’s all
That’s all
That’s all it is
